Iceland
Midnight light, geothermal heart & glacier edges
About This Journey
Summer is the season when Iceland opens up. The midnight light stretches the day long enough to do everything properly, the whale-rich waters off Reykjavik become active, and the South Coast turns green around the edges while the glaciers remain white enough to feel improbable. This journey moves from Reykjavik into the geothermal heart of the country at Húsafell, crosses the Golden Circle at an unhurried pace, continues down the South Coast for black beaches and waterfalls, and ends at the Blue Lagoon's Retreat for a final night of complete reset.
What's Included
Day-by-Day Itinerary

Arrival in Reykjavik
Reykjavik
Arrive at Keflavik International Airport and transfer privately to The Reykjavik EDITION for early check-in. Settle into the hotel and spend the first afternoon gently -- a walk along the harbor, the Harpa Concert Hall exterior, and the Laugavegur shopping corridor, which in summer feels much more like a town than a capital. In the evening, a curated Reykjavik Food & Wine Odyssey begins with an exclusive private guide, moving through selected restaurants and venues known for seafood, Nordic cooking, and Icelandic wine and beer pairings.

Sea & Spa
Reykjavik
A full summer day in Reykjavik with two very different but equally strong experiences. Start with a premium RIB whale watching tour from the harbor -- a faster, smaller boat that gives you better coverage of Faxaflói Bay and a closer feel for the marine life, including whales, dolphins and puffins in season. Return to the city for lunch and then head to Sky Lagoon for the seven-step ritual: warm lagoon, cold plunge, sauna, mist, scrub, steam, and shower, all positioned against the North Atlantic in a way that makes the spa feel fully integrated with the landscape.

West Iceland & Húsafell
Húsafell
Leave Reykjavik and drive west into the landscapes that define the country away from the coast. The route passes through lava fields and open valley country before arriving in Húsafell, where the geothermal and waterfall circuit begins. Stop at Deildartunguhver, Europe's most powerful hot spring, then continue to Hraunfossar and Barnafoss -- two very different waterfall experiences only minutes apart. Check in to Torfhús Retreat and use the late afternoon for a soak in the hot tub, a walk around the property, or a slow dinner in the retreat setting.

Golden Circle at Leisure
Golden Circle
Today is the Golden Circle done properly and without rush. Begin with Þingvellir National Park, where Iceland's parliament was founded in the 10th century and where the tectonic plates can literally be read in the landscape. Continue to Geysir to watch Strokkur erupt and then on to Gullfoss, the glacial waterfall that drops in two stages into a deep canyon. If the weather and conditions suit, add a Silfra snorkeling experience in the fissure at Þingvellir -- one of the clearest freshwater dives on earth, where you float between the Eurasian and North American plates.

South Coast Water & Ice
South Coast
Head south toward the coast and watch the landscape turn more dramatic as the mountains and glaciers come closer. The day is built around the South Coast's essential stops: Seljalandsfoss, where you can walk behind the curtain of water in summer; Skógafoss, one of Iceland's most powerful and photogenic waterfalls; and viewpoints near the glacier edge that show how quickly the country shifts from farmland to ice. Continue to the Skálakot Manor area and check in to the hotel.

Black Beach & Glacier Country
Reynisfjara
A full day on the South Coast should include the places that make this region feel almost cinematic. Drive to Reynisfjara black sand beach and take time to look at the basalt columns, the surf and the cliff formations -- not to linger too long at the waterline, but to experience one of the most dramatic coastal settings in Europe. Continue to Vík for lunch and then toward the glacier zones for a summer-compatible ice and landscape experience: glacier viewpoints, an easy short glacier-edge walk, and a super jeep excursion where the terrain allows it.

Back Toward Reykjavik & the Lagoon
Blue Lagoon
Leave the South Coast and return toward the capital region, timing the day so that the final movement into the Blue Lagoon area feels like a deliberate closing chapter rather than a transfer. The arrival at The Retreat at Blue Lagoon allows enough time to use the spa properly. The property works best when it is not treated as a one-night logistics stop; instead, it becomes the final descent into stillness after several active days.

Blue Lagoon Reset
Blue Lagoon
This is the day for the Retreat to do what it does best: slow the whole journey down. Enjoy the unlimited spa access, the warm mineral water, quiet treatment rooms and the sense that the landscape is participating in the wellness experience. A late morning walk around the lava fields is enough if the weather is good, and the rest of the day can remain unstructured except for lunch and dinner reservations. The itinerary deliberately keeps this day light because the Retreat itself is the experience.

Departure
Keflavik
A final breakfast and private transfer to Keflavik International Airport for departure. The last morning is intentionally calm, with enough margin to avoid any rush and to let the trip end the way it should: quietly, with the sense that the landscape has been fully experienced rather than merely passed through.
